The last few months (years?) have been very jam packed for me and my family - we have a lot going on in our house. Outside of my regular Sing Bend duties of Rock Choir Maestro on Mondays and private lesson instructor on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I am writing a full scale musical production that is requiring way more than the 2 or 3 extra days I have to give it a week. Plus there is my 11 year old son and my husband who would like to know that I still exist. My husband is producing a feature film documentary and my son is busy with school trips and projects, and almost daily Martial Arts practice. The Kamm's are booked almost every second of the day lately.
So when the lovely, fun, and feisty singers who regularly attend my Rock Choir were asking for me to participate in the Annual Bend Christmas Parade this year I was very apprehensive to say yes.. We did it a few years ago and although it was supremely fun, it was a ton - ton - of work. Adding one more enormously time consuming project to my plate right now seemed like a bit of work suicide, but I hate to disappoint the people who make the rest of my year so gratifying in the way of work and friendship.
So... what I am grateful for at this partuicular moment are the 10-15 volunteers who joined forces and are putting together almost every single detail and coordinating factor of our 2019 Sing Bend Christmas Parade Float Entry! These beautiful ladies and men are going above and beyond to get the whole project off the ground - literally. The only thing I am adding to the project is a few vector logo files, image ideas and the music (which is what I'm best at anyway.) The rest is being handled by my incredibly loving and generous family of singers. To say that I am relieved is an understatement. To say that I am grateful is putting it lightly for sure.
I am so fortunate to be surrounded by so much commitment, love and support. If you are reading this you know who you are...
Come watch us float by on December 7th in Downtown Bend. OR if you are a student or a Rock Choir singer from past present or future - come jump in the float with us and Sing Your Face Off! It will be a great time as always, and the holiday love will be flowing.
Happy Holidays!
